Thanks again and we hope you'll renew your membership in MSSF!
You might wonder what your dues are used for... Speakers are paid for their presentations - that is true whether they are virtual (via Zoom), or in-person. When we hold events, like the summer picnic, the club pays to rent a space for that event. We rent a storage unit for Culinary group equipment, the Fungus Fair materials and equipment, and supplies for other educational events. The storage unit also holds the MSSF library - hundreds of books that are available for members to check-out. Our groups.io account for the member-talk group, is a paid subscription service, our Zoom account is a paid account type, we pay for our web hosting and member database system. There are banking fees, insurance, and so on.
From Spring 2020 to Fall 2022, during the peak of the Covid pandemic, we did not drop members, but at this point, people with unpaid dues for the current period will be dropped from both the MSSF current member database, and from the groups.io member-talk group. Our income comes nearly entirely from two sources, the Fungus Fair and from membership dues. If it is not a hardship for you, payment of unpaid membership dues from prior years would be appreciated. If your budget doesn't allow it, please pay the newest invoice and contact to request that any older, unpaid invoices be voided.
